MARIE DI DOMENICO
Class of 2020
TREASURER / VOLUNTEER / BENEFACTOR
Cadet Years: Treasurer (1970’s) and Volunteer (the late 1950’s through the late 1990’s)
HER CADET STORY:
Most Cadets from the 50’s through 90’s know Marie DiDomenico as the daughter of our famous “AUNT NELLIE”. While Aunt Nell spent almost three (3) decades of seamstress service (from the late 1950’s, through the mid-1980’s), on the road, with the Cadets, her daughter Marie was always helping in the background. Whether it was taking Aunt Nell (who did not drive) to functions, rehearsals, local competitions, uniform fittings at the school (church or post) or simply helping Aunt Nell with the uniforms, “My Marie” (as Aunt Nell affectionately called Marie) was always on-call to help her mom whenever needed.
However, Marie’s Cadet story goes beyond just helping Aunt Nell. Marie was a former Treasurer for the corps; the first female Board Member of the Corps; she worked bingos for the corps; she was, and has been, a benefactor for many, many years. Through the years, Marie even personally helped less fortunate members of the corps by helping to pay part of their tuition.
She was always there, truly bleeds maroon, and if you have anything negative to say about the Corps to Marie, she’ll have no problem to personally set you straight . . . and, whatever you do, NEVER ever say anything negative about Aunt Nell’s meatballs . . .
Marie is partially “old school”, having ties to the corps when it was an all-male organization back in the late 50’s and early 60’s, but has stayed on top of current events with the Corps, traveling to local shows and participating in alumni events. By the way, all of Marie’s contributions were done as a volunteer, without pay.
