KEN CONKLIN
Class of 2019
CADET / INSTRUCTOR / QUARTERMASTER
Cadet Years: Cadet Plebe Percussion Instructor and Quartermaster (1972-1977)
Cadet Quartermaster & Volunteer (1978-1980)
HIS CADET STORY:
Mr. Conklin began his tenure with The Cadets in 1970 when his three children joined the Cadet Plebes. This was an important time during The Cadet history, because during the early 70’s when the Plebe organization split into two groups (Cadet Plebes and the Garfield Epochs), Mr. Conklin stepped up to help instruct the young Cadet Plebes as a volunteer Percussion Instructor and Quartermaster, and his wife Cam became Quartermistress.
Ken continued as a Cadet Quartermaster when his daughter Kathy and his son Billy moved up to the “big Corps” during the mid-70’s.
He and his wife Cam were event volunteers for many Cadet fundraisers, even going on tour with the Corps working on the food truck. Mr. Conklin was also very handy, building wooden holders for the shakos on the truck and repairing the equipment truck engine when needed.
