HIS CADET STORY:
John has been involved with the Corps through the years, behind the scenes as a former board member, benefactor, volunteer, organizer of our first Cadets Phone-a-thon (the model that preceded the Maroon and Gold Campaign), and a behind-the-scenes organizer and underwriter of several Cadet celebrations. John is currently the Vice President of the Maroon and Gold Alumni Association.
In 1988, John brought over to the UK the likes of George Zingali, Marc Sylvester, Peggy Twiggs, Michael Klesch, and Thom Hannum to do a drum corps weekend workshop. It was very successful, and it led to a “British Invasion” of American drum corps (so to speak). Many Brits subsequently joined the Cadets and other US drum corps. This was also the beginning of our international membership extension that would soon include members from other European countries and Japan.
John has also held other drum corps administrative positions including the Connecticut Hurricanes Board of Directors, Bushwackers Board of Directors, and currently, the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame Executive Committee.
