HIS CADET STORY:

Al Mura was a charter member of the Holy Name Cadets.  As a brass player, Al went on to become a brass instructor and High School Band educator, instructor, drum and bugle corps judge and alumni leader.

 

Al challenged the Cadets with repertoires that were not always military by nature bringing in some classical song selections to the Corps.

 

Mr. Mura even addressed the members of the Corps for our 75th Anniversary year and retaught the Corps Hymn (“O Holy Name”) to both the Corps members and alumni, making it more of a ballad (or hymn) in the beginning, with a purposeful retard at the end and added the conclusion with an “Amen”.  This is the version we sing to this very day.
